Memecoin scandal

Hayden Davis, a prominent figure associated with the Solana-based Libra memecoin scandal, is facing serious allegations. According to a report published by Argentine news source La Nación on February 18, Davis allegedly boasted about wielding influence over Argentine President Javier Milei. La Nación reported that these claims are now under scrutiny.

The news outlet’s report details accusations that Davis bragged about financially incentivizing Karina Milei, the President’s sister and a significant figure within his administration, to exert control over President Milei himself.

The La Nación report further states that Davis purportedly communicated with an unnamed executive from a cryptocurrency firm, asserting that his financial contributions to Karina Milei provided him with sway over the President. Leaked messages reportedly reveal Davis claiming that Milei would accede to his demands due to these payments.

One message attributed to Davis is quoted as saying:

“I control that n****. I send $$ to his sister and he signs whatever I say and does what I want.”

Despite the gravity of these allegations, reports indicate that Davis has reportedly denied any financial agreements with the Milei siblings.

Michael Padovano, Davis’ spokesperson, has refuted the allegations as untrue. Padovano stated that Davis has no recollection of sending the messages in question and could not find any such records on his devices.

Padovano went on to assert that President Milei and his sister were solely focused on ensuring the Libra token would positively impact Argentina’s economic landscape.

Neither Karina nor Javier Milei have directly addressed these allegations at this time. However, President Milei has since distanced himself from the Libra memcoin scandal, refuting any impropriety and maintaining that his actions were taken in good faith.

Managing the Libra memecoin scandal

In a related development, another report from La Nacion reported that Davis and Milei’s administration have been in communication to manage the repercussions of the Libra memecoin situation.

This report suggests that discussions involved receiving assurances that President Milei would not publicly accuse Davis of misconduct. Plans for further discussions with an envoy were reportedly made, and Davis was allegedly advised to refrain from public media appearances.

This report followed Davis’ participation in an interview with YouTube investigator Stephen Findeisen, known online as “Coffeezilla.” During this interview, Davis contended that the Libra token’s failure was a business misstep rather than a fraudulent scheme.

During the same interview, Davis admitted his involvement in the MELANIA token and alluded to a potential insider trading opportunity related to the TRUMP token.

These remarks have amplified the ongoing controversy, especially as the Libra memecoin scandal has already triggered legal discussions and caused turbulence in Argentina’s financial markets. Argentina’s S&P Merval index experienced a drop of over 5% following these events.
