In a move that feels like Gotham losing Batman, the renowned crypto investigator ZachXBT is stepping back from direct messages on X. He explains the decision is due to users seeking his assistance often “lack[ing] basic financial literacy” and not “respect[ing] his time.”

ZachXBT announced in his Telegram group, “Investigations by ZachXBT,” that he’ll be disabling his DMs for the next few weeks. He emphasized, “This means there’s currently no way to contact me, so be extra cautious and avoid scams.”

Recently, X users have been actively urging ZachXBT to look into Javier Milei’s LIBRA token launch and the alleged $100 million insider trading scandal linked to it. However, this Wednesday, he clarified that he won’t be investigating LIBRA or any meme-coin related projects, stating that “there’s little incentive for me to spend time on it.”

He further explained his stance, stating, “I don’t prioritize cases involving gamblers, nor am I looking to boost engagement or followers by covering such incidents.”

“Right now,” he elaborated, “I’m most interested in hacks, exploits, phishing attacks, or social engineering scams. These cases are fulfilling because they allow me to recover funds or assist victims in taking legal action.”

He also mentioned his plans to reduce his activity on X, citing the deteriorating state of crypto Twitter.

ZachXBT’s track record includes uncovering countless crypto scams over the years, with recent investigations revealing a $500,000 crypto scam that involved hacking accounts through impersonation of X employees.

He has also been vocal in his criticism of crypto exchange Coinbase for their alleged inaction regarding social engineering scams. These scams reportedly led to users losing a staggering $65 million between December 2024 and January 2025.

Further, ZachXBT has directed criticism towards the law firm Burwick Law, which is currently initiating numerous lawsuits for memecoin investors. He contends that the plaintiffs represented by the firm are “degenerate gamblers” rather than “actual victims or investors.”
