Hyperliquid, the innovative layer-1 blockchain platform, has officially launched HyperEVM, a versatile Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) designed for general-purpose use.

HyperEVM is now live, marking a significant leap towards Hyperliquid’s vision of becoming a comprehensive hub for finance. This launch brings broad programmability to Hyperliquid’s high-performance financial infrastructure. The initial mainnet version of HyperEVM includes:

This development is a key milestone in Hyperliquid’s ambition to embed rich financial programmability within its efficient ecosystem.

HyperEVM’s Deep Integration with Hyperliquid’s L1 Consensus

Unlike a separate chain, HyperEVM is intrinsically linked to Hyperliquid’s existing layer-1 consensus, known as HyperBFT. This tight integration ensures that the EVM benefits from the robust security features of Hyperliquid’s foundational layer.

Crucially, HyperEVM blocks are built as part of the L1 execution process, enabling smooth interoperability between the EVM and Hyperliquid network’s core components. This architecture also ensures that the native Hyperliquid token, HYPE, is fully compatible with the gas token used within HyperEVM, improving platform liquidity and user experience.

HyperEVM has been assigned chain ID 999, and a JSON-RPC server is now accessible, encouraging node operators and developers to host their own servers, promoting decentralized network access.

Recognizing the evolving state of tooling and analytics for this new EVM, Hyperliquid is providing real-time raw HyperEVM block data streaming to S3. This approach simplifies blockchain indexing for developers, removing the need to operate their own nodes and lowering the barrier to entry for ecosystem participants.

While the initial launch focuses on essential functionalities such as spot transfers between native HYPE and HyperEVM HYPE, and the deployment of the WHYPE system contract for DeFi applications, Hyperliquid intends to introduce general ERC20 transfers and precompiled contracts in upcoming updates.

This phased rollout strategy is designed to minimize disruption for current users as new features are introduced, highlighting Hyperliquid’s dedication to both innovation and stability.

Hyperliquid Launches Substantial Bug Bounty Program

Coinciding with the HyperEVM launch, Hyperliquid has announced a comprehensive bug bounty initiative. This program aims to strengthen system security by rewarding developers for identifying and reporting vulnerabilities.

Rewards for the bug bounty program can reach up to $1 million USDC, depending on the seriousness of the security vulnerability discovered.

The program encompasses a wide range of potential vulnerabilities, including those that could lead to system downtime or errors in nodes or API servers.

For HyperEVM on mainnet, bug hunters can focus on reporting issues related to the EVM’s integration with Hyperliquid’s native functionalities.
