A person identifying himself as Hu Lezhi burned $1.65 million worth of Ethereum tokens and further donated $5.35 million, accompanied by strange messages about mind control chips and expressing suicidal thoughts.

This distressing event resonated within the cryptocurrency community, prompting responses from figures like Tron’s Justin Sun, who offered support. However, it also had negative repercussions, inspiring the creation of at least one meme coin.

Ethereum User Hu Lezhi Destroys Large Sum of ETH

An anonymous Ethereum user destroyed 500 ETH, valued at approximately $1.65 million. These transactions included on-chain messages that appear to be a manifesto, with the sender identifying as Hu Lezhi.

Using the Ethereum network, Hu detailed a series of bizarre accusations against Kuande Investment, believed to be his employer, concerning mind control. He also made statements suggesting he was considering suicide.

The messages stated: “The management at Kuande Investment, Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi, are using brain-computer weapons to control all current and former employees, including themselves. I am Hu Lezhi, an ordinary programmer and entrepreneur. If I become a final stage victim, I will end my life.”

Hu’s messages generated concerned reactions from both the Ethereum community and the broader cryptocurrency world.

For instance, Justin Sun, the founder of Tron, attempted to make contact, suggesting the community should allow Hu to voice his opinions. Brain chip technology is a controversial topic within the crypto space.

Beyond the 500 ETH burn, Hu also burned or donated an additional 1647 tokens to various charitable organizations within the crypto space, such as Wikileaks, Endaoment, and the Ethereum Foundation. This second set of transactions reduced his Ethereum holdings by approximately $5.35 million.

Hu claimed: “Since October 2022, I’ve realized I’ve been monitored and manipulated by a mind control organization since birth. I have now lost all human dignity. I’ve decided to leave this world and hope this ugly world is destroyed soon.”

The price of ETH experienced a slight increase today, although this is likely unrelated to this incident. Ethereum’s gains today are more likely attributed to issues surrounding Solana, but Hu’s actions might have had a minor impact on price fluctuations.

Hu identified his apparent employer as Kuande Investments, which online investigators have linked to WizardQuant Capital Management.

Despite the possible company name confusion, someone unaffiliated has already launched a Kuande meme coin. Further meme coins named after Hu are also emerging on Solana. Regardless of the mental health crisis that prompted Hu’s Ethereum burn, it has already influenced the meme coin market.

Unfortunately, Hu’s claims of brain chips and mind control, which may be a pseudonym, are too far-fetched to be readily believed. At present, the crypto community hopes Hu receives help before he causes himself serious harm.
